The Jean Zimmer Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2017, the Jean Zimmer Memorial Scholarship honors a long time Extension and 4-H program supporter.
The daughter of Paul W. and Larene (Wilson) Zimmer, Jean grew up on the family farm and ranch operation northwest of Dodge City. During her youth, Jean's family utilized various Extension programs and took part in numerous 4-H activities. The belief in the benefits of youth development programs, like 4-H, was instilled in Jean from an early age. As she continued working on her farm, raising wheat and cattle, Jean also lovingly cared for her family of dogs and cats, as well as curated a vast collection of marbles. Never marrying, Jean continued living and working on her farm until her health declined, resulting in her passing in 2015.
